The 146.98 club repeater is up and working well although the outboard power amplifier has a problem and that is be look into by Ted and Larry. Currently the repeater is running bare foot but still covers the valley very well.
Larry W7IXZ is working on getting the paper work together for the Coordinating Council to update the club repeater technical information.
Ted N7NSL gave a summary of the Field Day activities that ended up at Ted’s QTH this year. There were three stations in operation with yagi and dipole antennas. Ted stated that
there was a good turn out from the newer Club members and they were able to get their feet wet operating and logging the contacts. It was hot that weekend and the air conditioning was appreciated by the operators.
The Club BBQ and eye ball QSO will be at Graham and Barbara’s home at 900 Main Ave in La Grande starting at 4:00 PM. Some of you may have noticed I neglected to give a date for this affair and that is because I neglected to write it down so if someone could help out and let us all know what date that will be on it would be much appreciated.
Fox Hunt this year will be some time in October with the date and other details to be announced.
Ted N7NSL wants to have a basic HF antenna building party at his garage some time in August. This will be for building a simple dipole antenna for the HF band of you choice. Ted stated that he will have some wire and other hardware available. There was 6 or 8 people that expressed interest in attending.
Ted N7NSL mentioned that he came across some excellent you tube videos on electronics. Search “Mr. Cartson’s Lab” for these videos.
Steve KA0DEK announced that OPB has a UHF repeater up now and the frequency is 450.450 with a PL tone on 100.0. For more information contact Steve.
The program consisted of a show and tell about the process of collecting the parts for a simple CW transmitter the Joel KD7JG is building. This will be a tube type transmitter of the 75 watt input class. It uses a 1625 final, a 12BY7 oscillator and two tube voltage regulators. The transmitter will be crystal controlled.
The meeting was closed after the program.
Our next meeting will be August 19th at 7:00 PM at the La Grande Fire Station meeting room.
